I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks. It’s not because I don’t have anything to say. It’s because there has been a groundswell of commentary by others far more articulate than I who cover just about everything on which I might opine! Authors like Victor Davis Hanson, Brian C. Joondeph, Matt Vespa, Derek Hunter, Katie Pavlich, and so many others write superbly, say it like it is, and often take the words right out of my mouth, and before I can form them!

And it’s not just the conservative websites and blogs that carry their thoughts. Increasingly, and finally (!) even leftist media outlets are starting to react to the never-ending stream of BS that emanates from the mouths of the government and their lackies.

Actually, it’s the other way around. The lackies are running the government. The leftist demagogues in big tech, the media, academia, the Marxist implants in the judicial system, the use(less) idiots seeking their fifteen minutes of fame…all are formed into an assault on traditional values. Think the scene from the Battle of Helms Deep in Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers.

The topics are at this point, familiar. There is, like clockwork, an idiocy or atrocity or two or three stemming from the Left each and every day. It truly is like the scene shown above. The forces of good and evil are arrayed against one another, and for the moment, it’s as if evil has the upper hand.

Here’s the problem:

On the Right we have free thinking, self-governing, independent, solo practitioners of Life.

On the Left, we have lemmings, sheep, sycophants, utopian-fantasy, “can’t we all just get along”, head-in-the-sand, dumbed-down, addled and brainwashed followers led by power-and-wealth-hungry demagogues.

It’s extremely difficult for individuals to stand up to the crowd. Especially when the crowd has megaphones and billboards the size of jumbotrons!

It’s not a matter of the Right “waking up”. We’re fully awake. It’s that INDIVIDUALS cannot beat the COLLECTIVE without HELP.

Where does that HELP come from? Is it a charismatic, righteous leader? Is it a conservative institution that rises above all others? Is it a Black Swan/Monumental event that draws us together by forcing us to concentrate on the traditional things that matter? Is it Divine Intervention?

I think nothing short of a catastrophic or tipping point event that compels the weak-minded Left to set aside their foolishness and return to level-headed basics together with the aggregate pleadings of millions upon millions of God-fearing individuals imploring Divine Intervention will break the back of the cancer that has affected our nation and the rest of the Western World.

Another 9-11. China invading Taiwan. The Israelis nuking Tehran. NORKO bombing Japan. Russia using tactical nukes in Ukraine or invading Poland or Finland. Or less likely: a CME (coronal mass ejection) wiping out our electrical grid or Ebola/Marburg exploding in Africa and spreading throughout the world.

These are all what we’d call “known unknowns”. Then there are the “unknown unknowns”. By definition, we can’t see it/them coming.

The situation is beyond “out of control” at this point. We can hope and pray that the consequences of “wokeness” keep materializing. Corporations (Disney, Anheuser Busch) and Schools (school board attendance/protests) are just a couple of examples of the swinging of the pendulum. Late-night comedians (Maher, Gutfeld) are picking up on it. Legislatures are putting their feet down in various red-districts. Churches are sheepishly (.sic) returning to traditional dogma.

Voices more powerful than mine are becoming more bold, more heard, more acknowledged and maybe, just maybe, the ground is being prepared for the final battle. We must win or perish.

CS-CR(*) and Reversing the Brainwash

*CS stands for Conditioned Stimulus. CR stands for Conditioned Response. I learned in Pscyh 101 in college that it’s a lot easier to program human beings to respond to a stimulus than it is to reverse that response. The Left has programmed so many people with so much perverted stimulus that it’s going to take a LOT to deprogram them. In College I had the dubious privilege of listening to a guest lecture by the renowned psychologist B.F. Skinner. For those of you who took introductory Pscyh, you may recall Skinner was known for being the pre-eminent “behaviorist”, for the “Skinner Box” and “operant conditioning”. Skinner espoused the notion that free will is an illusion, and that all human behavior is the direct result of conditioning. To prove his point, he stood at the front of our class and began his lecture by explaining his theories about conditioning while holding a revolver in his hand.

Periodically, he would yell “CS” and fire the blank-loaded gun. Our guts would tighten instantly when we heard the loud report. He would then go on with his lecture, and every so often would repeat the “CS” – ‘BANG!” sequence. He did this three or four times and each time it predictably elicited the same visceral response among us, a pronounced tightening of the diaphragm.  

As he neared the end of his lecture, he once again yelled “CS”, only this time he did NOT pull the trigger.

We all nevertheless felt the contraction in our guts, expecting the loud bang.

“That,” explained Skinner with a wry smile, “is conditioned stimulus and conditioned response”. He explained that his cry of “CS” was the conditioned stimulus. The gut tightening was the involuntary conditioned response.

He went on with his lecture for another fifteen minutes or so, repeatedly yelling CS and NOT pulling the trigger. Our gut response continued, however.

During the question and answer period a timid student raised his hand and asked Skinner what it would take to deprogram us from the conditioned stimulus.

And this is where I was shocked to learn that while it took only a few instances of conditioned stimulus to produce the conditioned response of a gut twitch, IT WOULD TAKE AT LEAST TEN TIMES LONGER TO REVERSE THE PROGRAMMING!

Indeed, as we walked from class, all across the campus one would hear the cries of “CS” as we students tried to prompt the conditioned response. Because none of us had guns, the novelty and programming wore off after another class period or two and we went on our merry ways.

Think, however, what the never-ending Conditioned Stimulus of Leftist BS has done to the population! So programmed to respond to, for example, COVID fear-mongering, are grown adults that they cower before their conditioners and obediently comply with their demands, however unscientific, unsubstantiated, unproven or lacking in common sense!

So, to counter the Leftist drivel, now deeply ingrained in the weak-minded psyches of so many people, will take a WHOLE LOT OF TRUTH TELLING… many times greater than what the Left has conditioned us with.

I don’t point this out to be pessimistic of fatalistic. I do so because the war in which we find ourselves is a war of wits. The only way we are going to be able to reclaim our country and banish the evil among us is by changing hearts and minds…by deprogramming and reprogramming people.

We’ve started this process. The wealth of truth-telling in so-called “alternative” (alternative to the MSM) news sites and the willingness of the “un(brain)washed” to speak out and openly about the falsehoods, lies and deceit constantly emanating from the mouths of Leftist politicians, judicial activists, teachers and people who would otherwise know better but who have been unwittingly programmed, is bit by bit serving as an antidote.

We need to keep it up! It’s going to take a while!

Remember the Alamo and 2020

The dust hasn’t settled, but the Left has wasted no time attempting to complete the “fundamental transformation” of America. Unless one has one’s head in the sand, which, regrettably, millions do thanks to a media that has successfully created an alternative reality that they’ve been brainwashed to accept, the slide down the slippery slope to the destruction of the greatest civilization ever known to man has accelerated almost to the point of no return. As we go forth, we must never forget what the Left did to us in 2020.

What we see happening right before our eyes is Evil unleashed. I used to think of the Leftists as whack-a-moles. At least with whack-a-mole the player has a chance at winning. I would now characterize what’s happening as the gates of Hell being opened and its hounds unleashed. The outcome of this war is uncertain. And while I hope and pray that Right and Truth will prevail, the tide is clearly in favor of the Left and Lies.

The Left has been trying to gain complete control of our country for several generations. All the political shenanigans, all the lies and distortions, all the mischaracterizations and outright falsehoods the Left has perpetrated, the cheating, the duplicity, the outright theft…in 2020 all was coordinated to bring about the outcome we are now witnessing: the destruction of America as we know it and its replacement with a Marxist/socialist utopian wet-dream.

“Come on Grumps, don’t you think you’re being a bit shrill and melodramatic,” one might ask?

I don’t think so. As each day goes by a new atrocity is unwrapped. Here it is the end of March, and look at what’s happened. I’m going to assume that readers are already quite aware of all these things, so this is a just a list to summarize what we’ve since inauguration day:

  • The “Biden-Harris” administration directive.
  • Harris speaking to world leaders instead of Biden.
  • 1:15 PM “lids” on Biden’s day routinely.
  • $1.9 Trillion Covid boondoggle handouts to Leftists – only 9% actually for Covid.

  • Keystone Pipeline shut down: skyrocketing gas prices, destroying America’s energy independence
  • Attempt to force $15 minimum wage

  • Slavery reparations for “systemic racism”
  • Defunding the police
  • Obliviousness to the REAL insurrections in major cities on the part of ANTIFA and BLM
  • The push for single-payer healthcare
  • Making the ‘wealthy’ pay their “fair share”
  • Rampant cancel culture
  • Kowtowing to the teachers’ unions on re-opening the schools
  • Stopping the completion of the Wall – The Crisis at the Mexican Border
  • Prospective elimination of the Filibuster
  • HR-1 to institutionalize fraudulent elections
  • DC Statehood now being debated
  • Students ethnic studies and critical rate theory curricula imposed
  • Dissolution of the 1776 Commission and promotion anew of the 1619 Project
  • Executive order on transgenders in sports and the “Equality Act” abomination
  • Penalties being placed on “climate deniers”
  • Cancel culture: Aunt Jemima, Pepe LePew, Mr. Potato Head, Mark Twain, Dr. Seuss
  • Statues of Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson being destroyed
  • Rejoining the Iran accord
  • Rejoining the Paris Climate Accord
  • Kissing up to the Palestinians again: obsession with the 2-State solution and undermining of the Abraham Accords
  • Putting the U.S. back on its heels versus the Chinese who made fools of Biden’s team in Alaska.
  • The White Supremacy canard.
  • North Korea flexing its muscles again
  • They’re coming for your guns
  • Cancelling Christianity

If this isn’t a tsunami of evil and filth I don’t know what is!

A better summary is provided by Lauri Regan’s article in American Thinker dated March 25, 2021 entitled “What Trump Derangement Syndrome Has Wrought“.

Here’s her conclusion, quoted verbatim:

” So here we are. Unity? Moderation? Not in a Biden-Harris administration that brags about passing the most “progressive bill in American history.” Not in an administration driven by reversing Trump policy no matter how successful while driven by divisiveness, lies, ideology, and power. But Trump’s gone so we have that going for us.  Sadly, the 74 million American voters who didn’t cast ballots for these awful people and policies will pay the price for the vapidity of Americans filled with enough hate and ignorance to elect this garbage.”

“Remember 2020” needs to be the new patriot’s rallying cry!

Count Me Among the Stawarts

None, and I mean none of the cable or broadcast news media question the outcome of the election anymore. “President Elect Joe Biden continues to forge ahead with plans for his cabinet despite unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud by Trump,” is typical of the banter one hears. The tsunami of fait accompli saturating the airwaves drowns out the 70 plus million of us who are seeing with our own eyes the affidavits alleging fraud and the investigative reporting that provides further evidence of Leftist malfeasance. Add to them our intuition that there’s no way that the weak, demented and corrupt Joe Biden received 78 million legitimate votes, more than Hillary Clinton and more than any candidate in history! And finally, don’t try to convince me that Joe Biden “ran away with the election” when the down ballot results showing wins in highly competitive races and gains in the House and state legislatures were all in the Republicans’ favor.

I’ve said before, here and on Parler, that I will not concede or accept Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the President and Vice-President elect until either the House says so in a contingent election, the Supreme Court decides by rule of law, or Trump himself concedes.

So count me among the stalwarts who don’t believe the election “results” and hope, pray and in my gut believe that Trump did indeed win in a landslide only to have been declared the loser by a corrupt media and due to fraudulent voting, and that either the courts or state legislatures will do the right thing and ensure the true winner is inaugurated in January.

Count me among the citizens of this country who welcomed the reversals of Obama/Biden-era regulations, weakness, capitulation to adversaries and attempts to “fundamentally transform” our nation, and among those who, despite unease and sometimes even revulsion at Trump’s style and methods, believed and still believe his actions vastly improved our country and set us on a course back to the top of the hill and peace and prosperity for all.

Count me among those who do NOT believe there is systemic racism in our country and who are infuriated by the rioting and looting and desecration we see in our cities, as well as the physical assaults with impunity on those who support Trump.

And count me among those skeptics who look at the coronavirus data and see how it has been manipulated and exploited to achieve political ends, and among those who are sickened by the tyrannical, short-sighted diktats of state and local despots hypocritically imposing lockdowns and mask-wearing to the destruction of so many businesses and livelihoods and the detriment of our school children and their families.

Count me among those who are not so stupid as to think that if all 300 million or so guns in the United States were taken off the streets tomorrow, there would be no more gun violence. Common sense tells us that within a few days there would be hundreds if not thousands of guns back on the streets, in the hands of criminals.

Count me among those who have turned off professional sports because of its genuflection to “wokeness”. What a load of horse you know what!

Count me among those who want smaller, not larger government and who want lower, not higher taxes.

Count me among those who have seen the good our country has done around the world and who stand at attention with their hands over their hearts when the flag goes by or ‘Taps’ are played.

Count me among those who believe in God, that there is good and evil in the world, and who choose to try to do the former and eschew the latter.

And finally, count me among those who pray He will bless us in our endeavor to fight against and eradicate evil and gain back our rapidly eroding freedom.

Maintaining Sanity

In the midst of the pandemic (I’m talking here not about the Wuhan Virus but the metastatic insanity befalling our nation), I’ve decided to do more than just turn off the ‘news’. I’ve returned to doing something that I haven’t done adequately since the beginning of the World Wide Web…READING.

But what to read. I’ve got numerous lists of “The Great Books”, but I don’t want just great literature. I want prose that is uplifting, inspiring, filled with good triumphing against evil, morals without “preachiness”. For what it’s worth, I’ve compiled this reading list for myself and I commend it for those who are similarly sick and tired of all the negativity, the constant whining and gnashing of teeth that is permeating virtually everything we hear and see today, not just on television, but on store notices, advertising, even invoices!

Advise and Consent (Allen Drury, 1959) – In the context of today’s politics, this timeless novel deals with the inner workings of Washington and particularly, the juxtaposition of political ambition against fundamental integrity.

Rainbow Six (Tom Clancy, 1998) – The techno thriller that displays the virtues of a G.I. Joe group of counter terrorist soldiers who go after cells worldwide.

Red Storm Rising (Tom Clancy, 1986) – Another great Clancy novel for the guys that pits NATO against the WarsawPact.

The Time it Never Rained (Elmer Kelton, 1973) – A western novel with a lot of homepun wisdom.

Freddy and Fredericka (Mark Helprin, 2005) – A tongue in cheek about a prince and princess of Wales banished to the United States.

Shelley’s Heart (Charles McCarry, 1995) – A political thriller that exposes the corruption of Washington.

On the Road (Jack Kerouac, 1957) – The fictionalized story of Kerouac’s journey across America.

Caribbean (James Michener, 1989) – Since I can’t travel there this year, think I’ll tour the islands and their history by re-reading this one.

The Blackford Oakes Series (William F. Buckley, Jr. 1967-2005) Spy novels from the pre-eminent conservative intellectual.

And I’m still going to binge on videos. I’ve hauled out, for example, my collection of “24” and look forward to see Jack Bauer take on the terrorists and bad guys again.

ANYTHING, ANYTHING to keep away the horror show that’s unfolding in our major cities and even some secondary ones. And anything to drown out the constant Wuhan Gloom and Doom!
