The speculation, the anticipation, the prognostication, the betting is all well underway. What will the 2024 ticket look like? Here are my two cents.
In my opinion, Trump running and DeSantis staying as Governor of Florida then being “anointed” in 2028 is the best scenario. Here is my reasoning.
Trump has been so accosted, character-assassinated, put through the ringer and maligned, with the Dems throwing everything at him, with his Teflon holding fast, he can do a grand “I told you so” and pick up where he left off, except with a sharper saber applied to the Swamp. While he is nowhere near the leader/statesman who SHOULD be in the Oval Office, he is the proven street fighter who will not shrink from the fight, is beholden to no-one and will be able to do the most good for the country of any GOP candidate.
Were DeSantis to be the nominee, he would be crucified and doesn’t have the wealth and may not have sufficient armor to withstand the inevitable onslaught from the Left. The attacks will be even more relentless than they were against Trump, and the painful turning of hearts and minds away from the Leftist BS to get independents to support DeSantis will become difficult.
Trump would have no problem with his base, and RINO’s will swallow hard and pull the lever for him against a Biden (choke), Harris (barf) or straight from central casting Newsome. And just tolerate or hate Trump, the Right realizes if they stay home that’s tantamount to letting the country continue on its road to hell. Friends of mine who indeed, HATE Trump, understand this, and even if their choice is between two evils, there is no question in their minds that the greater evil is the Democrat Left.
With Trump in the White House and men like Abbott and DeSantis on his flanks, not to mention the stalwarts in the press/media and politicians who have stuck by him throughout the RINO transformation/distancing that has occurred since 2020, Trump would have an unparalleled opportunity to not just halt the demise of our nation, but start what will be the difficult, long term challenge of putting it back on its feet.
What do I think WILL happen? I don’t pay attention to ANY of the polls. I don’t care what the pundits say. I don’t have my finger on the pulse of every generation, just my own, but with enough idiocy manifested by the Democrats, in the absence of any cataclysmic event like the onset of WWIII, in which case all bets are off…I think America at its core knows BS when it sees it, and the Dems have not just overplayed their hand, but may have permanently shot their utopian fantasy/perpetual power dream in the private parts.
We can only hope and pray.
Spent all day watching the Queen’s funeral. We often note how “no one does pageantry like the Brits” but they outdid themselves today, establishing a standard of excellence that may never be equaled. I texted my English brother-in-law sharing a selfie of my wife and me watching the ceremonies with the words underneath, “Words Fail”. Indeed they did. Only later did Extraordinary Dignity, Honor and Majesty come to mind and no more needed to be said. Once again, tradition, culture, custom and decorum were on display, as were the poignant scenes of thousands upon thousands of people heartfeltly honoring Elizabeth II.
I was struck by the deeply religious and reverent tone of the proceedings. Never in our own country would such a profound respect be given to religious belief in general, and Christianity in particular. Kudos to the British monarchy. Despite welcoming so many people of other faiths into their country, their steadfast allegiance to Christ and Church remain. England makes no bones about being a “Christian Nation”. Can you imagine Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer or virtually any other politician other than perhaps Pastor Mike Huckabee openly proclaiming anything close to that?
The Godless Left in America have all but succeeded in banishing Christianity from government and virtually every state institution.
As I watched the profoundly touching and deeply emotional proceedings today I was once again reminded why it is that I am a Traditionalist. What we witnessed was grounded, solid. The order, precision, highest standards of excellence, TRADITION, exhibited by not just those who participated directly, but also by the British people, were exemplary and things of which they can and may always be immensely proud.
I am ashamed for those times I’ve not exhibited the grace and poise I should in the face of adversity, controversy, hardship, loss but I am grateful for the example once again upheld by the British Royal Family of how the privileged, blessed and called should comport themselves.
But it is Tradition like that adhered to today: heritage, culture, class, dignity, honor and majesty, that ALL human beings should aspire to.
A friend of mine penned an email to me the other day that articulately summarizes the state not just of our nation but of the world. I reproduce it here in full (italics mine).
“Peter Zeihan (author of ‘The End of the World Is Just The Beginning’, a recommended read!) says that the world we knew in 2019 is gone and the post-Covid era will never be the same. Globalism, and the network of supply chains created in the past 50 years is fragmenting and will inevitably devolve into regional cooperatives of countries vying for fertilizers, food production, fuel, and the basics necessary to underpin civilized communities. Areas like Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia that have little or no food production and fuel sources may become hotbeds of civil unrest, starvation, and mass migration. And maybe that’s the best case.
Here, as inflation gets progressively worse and the costs of living and surviving get worse, it will undoubtedly lead to a greater chasm between rich and poor. In all of this Biden and the Leftists dither in the world of gender pronouns and social justice while Rome burns. However, unlike Emperors before him, none now are held to account, and are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past. They never learn, or don’t want to learn.
I cannot believe the world we are in today; it’s the Upside Down and it is surely producing a generation of young that have a weak anchor to what is right or reasoned. Products of their time? Let’s hope not for all our sakes.”

Couldn’t agree more, particularly with respect to the fact that most people today “are too lost in the “The Bachelor” or “The View” to sense how the world is devolving.”
Writers far more articulate than I are crafting tributes and condolences which pour in from across the globe. Flower bouquets are piling up at the gates of Balmoral and at Buckingham Palace. Years from now the question will be asked, “Where were you when the Queen died?” Momentous events etch indelible images and circumstances in our minds. We can all recall where we were on 9-11. Those of us who were around will recall where we were when Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon.
What can I add?
She was many things, but I would characterize the life of Queen Elizabeth as the embodiment of Traditionalism. She was its archetype. While talking heads will continue the debate as to whether a monarchy, even a constitutional one, is or is not an anachronism, the fact that in 2022 it exists and is still much revered is testament to what I believe is a human longing for the Traditional.
“Modern”, “Post-Modern”, “Contemporary” and the repulsive “Progressive” are all synonyms for what I might call “Anti-Traditionalism”. I spend most of my time and writing excoriating the values and behaviors of those to whom these labels can be applied so I won’t do so here.
I have long argued, on the other hand, that there are principles, values and human norms or standards that transcend all periods of time, all epochs, all generations. They are immutable and exist whether or not they are acknowledged by some or all of the world’s population. Some are couched in religious terms. Some in political. Some in sociological.
Among these are acknowledgment that irrespective of our circumstances every human being has worth, has inalienable rights, has a soul and free will. Honor and respect for the family, meritocracy, diligent work ethics, absolute values of right and wrong, honesty in business practices, wholesomeness in leadership, respect for authority, moderation rather than excess, self-responsibility, charity, trustworthiness, loyalty, helpfulness, friendliness, courteousness, kindness and above all, reverence.
Think of Queen Elizabeth II in these terms and you will realize she exuded ALL of them!
By way of contrast, try to apply these terms to the political class and wealthy elites, the so-called “leaders” of today.
Ok, you can stop now…you won’t find too many examples of them being exhibited, especially by Leftists and the majority of Democrats but also too many on the Right. You certainly won’t find the whole array in any one person.
Queen Elizabeth was the exception. She manifested them ALL, every day, in every place, in virtually every circumstance.
The so-called “leaders” of today all occupy space on the world stage due to their positions. Yes she was a Queen, but she took up the whole stage because of who she WAS, not because of her office. The only leader in my lifetime who exhibited anything close to her in terms of allegiance to Traditional values was Ronald Reagan.
Queen Elizabeth’s entire life was and will always be a monument to Tradition, to what in my judgment are the values and principles which when espoused and practiced by mankind have resulted in the greatest good for the greatest number of people. She lived it with dignity, with class, with noblesse oblige, with grace and with honor. Kudos is due her, as are praise, gratitude and the utmost respect for her contribution to the human story.
Rest in peace Elizabeth and may God bless your family at this painful time.
I love what Rob Carson calls “informed satire”. That’s humorous story-telling with a grain of truth in it. Well, there’s a grain of truth in what the Democrats are calling me too.
I am a threat to a democracy where the dead, non-citizens, disqualified and cheaters can vote, multiple times, and get away with it. The United States is not a democracy (for the eleven millionth time!!!!). We are a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC! In a republic, a constitution protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a democracy, the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will on the minority.
So OF COURSE Biden is in favor of democracy and we, Rebel Scum, stand in the way! And thus I, rebel scum, am a threat! I’ll accept the label.

but I just have to throw my two cents in regarding Biden’s speech last night. It couldn’t have been more sinister, dark, divisive, frankly FASCIST. It’s everything we expected it to be, full of threats, ominous warnings, vitriol, lies, half-truths, deflections, dishonesty, pandering, and so on. What I REALLY worry about is, “Who is listening and nodding as they watched him?” It is THESE stupid, mindless, lemmings/sheep who actually believe his drivel that concern me. Allowed to see the truth they’d be harmless. Poisoned as they are by the excrement emerging from the mouths of the Left, they become a REAL threat to America. Brainwashed and led by radical Democrat demagogues – pick whatever label you want for them: socialists, communists, eco-fascists, anti-Americans, metastatic cancerous leeches…they comprise a force of zombie-like zealot idiots who attack and destroy on command and at will every traditional value, institution, cherished principle that made America great to begin with.
The Democrats/Leftists are what they are and what they have always been. Now that we are in a cold war for the soul of America, the only thing that’s different is that they’re cornered and unhinged and exposed and thus far more dangerous than they’ve been in the past. Their acolytes and lemming followers drool and nod and repeat the slogans and dogma emanating from the sick minds of the puppet masters BEHIND Biden, Pelosi, Schumer and the whole panoply of fools following their lead.
So saturated are the airwaves and print media with the absolute garbage they spew, many otherwise smart, experienced, what I would call NORMAL people are being infected. I hear what should be conservatives, or at least traditionalists regurgitate Leftist talking points. I hear them questioning the morality, values and virtues that they grew up on, that they KNOW are right. I watch them meekly deny their beliefs so as not to offend their already terminal neighbors. I expect a cock to crow as they abandon what they know to be true.
I get it. The Left has so destroyed our sense of meritocracy, of fairness, of good and evil that from our bosses on down we’re silenced into compliance. Should we speak up, our livelihoods are put at risk. Should we actively throw the BS flag on the woke nonsense being megaphoned from human resource departments, in “team building” meetings, etc., we risk at a minimum ostracization, at worst, our jobs.
Speeches like the one Biden gave last night contribute to the corrosion, to the pollution, to the spread of the Leftist cancer.
This guy has to go, of course, but so do all the despicable, pandering, anti-American underlings who lead and also serve the gospel of destruction which forms the basis of the Democrat/Leftist agenda.
Money is fuel. Money is power. Money is control. Government takes in money and distributes/spends it, ostensibly for the benefit of the entire nation. The Democrats have honed to a fine edge the art of increasing the take and distributing it to buy votes. As I have said so many times before, like the frog simmering in the pot, like the death from a thousand cuts, we have been conditioned to ignore the top line of our paychecks and focus only on our “take home pay.” Thus, incrementally, ever so imperceptibly, government’s take is obscured and its control expanded.
Today, government spending as a percent of GDP is 46% (see the Wikipedia article here.). 46%!!!!!! Let that sink in!
We don’t feel it, per se, because we just focus on “net take home pay”.
Now, what if withholdings were eliminated and everyone were forced to make quarterly tax payments. Your GROSS PAY, i.e. WHAT YOU ACTUALLY EARN, is deposited to your checking account every two weeks. Each quarter you would write a check to the IRS, State and Local taxing authorities for the amount you owe.
NOW YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL IT, AND IT’S GONNA HURT!
Of course, the government will never permit this…the tax code is too complicated and the amount people owe to indefinite to allow people to figure out what they owe. And too many people would evade their obligation and the government would be forced to chase their take (87,000 new IRS agents anyone????)
But boy, if everyone could see and feel how much was being taking out of what they legitimately have earned, they’d think twice about voting for Green New Deals, the amount we give in foreign aid, how much is spent on welfare and subsidies, how much is spent on government administration, etc.
I keep reading analyses of the economy, of the upcoming election, of the political landscape. For example, J. Robert Smith in an astute article in American Thinker, presents a fact-based, highly hopeful recitation of why it is that the GOP should win big in November.
It doesn’t matter.
Way too many otherwise thinking people will vote based on nonsense like the debt forgiveness plan, the “inflation reduction” bill, “Republicans are mean,” “Orange Man Bad”, and celebrity politics, as usual. Or, they’ll lazily vote the way they always have. That includes voters of all stripes.
No one thinks anymore. No one considers the knock on effects of their vote. People are driven by what “feels right”, by what is popular, by what will make them feel virtuous. The facts about what the Democrats and Biden have done to our country simply don’t compute for them. We can cite facts till we’re blue in the face. They will not be HEARD much less considered. The Media (see my August 25th post) will cover up the idiocy, will with world-class production values twist perception and reality to gaslight and brainwash lazy, non-thinking lemmings into thinking all is well, that failures are successes, that bad is good, that what we see with our eyes and hear with our ears are not real…that what they SHOW and SAY is what’s real.
The outcome of the November election will turn on the perceptions created by the Media in the last couple of weeks before November 8th. The only thing that will win back this country are charismatic, inspiring, so-good-they-can’t-be-ignored, made-for-Hollywood or by Hollywood personalities who will repeat slogans that will pull at heart strings, make sycophants feel valued, goad the angry, feed the egos of the dumbed-down sheeple, all the while giving sanctuary to every American whether Democrat, Republican or Independent, who cares about traditional values and returning our country to what it once was and could be again.
Is that personality De Santis? Jim Jordan? Devin Nunes? Tom Cotton? Ted Cruz? Mike Pompeo? A reformed and more statesmanlike Trump? While we have many qualified and charismatic women Republicans, I believe we need a kick-ass, take-names, testosterone-filled but articulate MAN for the next several iterations.
I truly hope that the inflation, shortages, international disrespect, internecine fighting, gaslighting, border invasion, education perversions, history destruction, get properly ascribed and attributed to Democrat policies and that Americans of all persuasions wake up by November 8th. I’m hopeful but not confident.
The Media. The New York and Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and virtually every rag that models itself after one or all of them. MSNBC, CNN, FOX (yes FOX!), ABC, CBS, NBC, virtually all the “local” news channels. And the biggest criminal media enterprise of all: Big Tech and they who operate SOCIAL MEDIA. They have all served to influence perception with a Leftist, Socialist, Communist, Totalitarian, Victimhood, Bleeding Heart, Democrat, LOSER bias. And we all know PERCEPTION CREATES REALITY.
How else can we explain how so many educated, literate, economically well-off or at least stable people can’t see the reality in front of them. Fortunately, if we are to believe SOME of the media, more and more Americans each day are “getting it”. But how could we let this happen?
A great article by Andrew W. Coy appeared recently in American Thinker entitled “What’s Going On in America“. He concisely lists the panoply of what we cannot believe. Here’s a list drawn from his words:
The FBI raid on Biden’s probably future political opponent’s personal home and threat of jail time;
Fences around the White House, FBI headquarters, the Capitol but insufficient fence on the southern border;
We are forced to take experimental vaccines (which are NOT vaccines but genetic-altering experiments that, by the way, don’t work and have been proven to generate innumerable bad side effects);
We are not allowed to work or move about the country freely;
$85 BILLION (!) of military equipment was left for terrorists and goat-herders in Afghanistan who hate us and want to see us destroyed;
So-called “leaders who made it legal for minors to have permanent, life-altering sex changes while it would be a crime to give them cigarettes, alcohol or the car keys;
China, Russia, Iran no longer fear us and Israel, Japan and South Korea no longer trust us;
Kindergarteners are forced to wear masks that don’t work, and everyone knows they don’t work;
J-6 political prisoners are still being held in D.C. jails without charges being filed against them or bail being afforded to them;
More illegal immigration in the last year than in any year since records have been kept, and the Democrats don’t care and continuously gaslight us;
We have inflation at a 40-year high and we know the people running the government aren’t stupid, so why are they doing it?:
We are no longer energy independent and beg our sworn enemies for it while we know damn well we have enough natural energy within our borders to meet our needs (who in D.C. financially benefits from this?);
We have food and basic needs shortages (e.g. baby formula);
We allow Iran the mechanism to have nuclear weapons but D.C. can’t understand Israel’s fears – the Deep State can’t be that dumb, so why are the Democrats letting this happen (Qui bono?);
The “President” and supposed Leader of the Free World is clearly suffering from dementia but we’re not allowed to notice or speak of it;
Biden tried to create a Ministry of Truth;
“Equal Opportunity” is now a racist term while “Equal Outcomes” and “Equity” are de rigeur;
Flash mobs loot downtown stores with impunity;
There is increasing unmitigated and unprovoked violence against innocents and no-one is prosecuted;
Churches, synagogues, cathedrals are closed down by government edicts but Democrat-led states openly and without shame call for fourth term abortions;
It is now ok and justified to discriminate against white men in jobs, promotions, college acceptance, but it is a hate crime to not allow transgender adults to indoctrinate our youth;
The Deep State thinks advocates the demise of America and encourage China’s rise to superiority;
The FBI/CIA/NSA routinely violate laws and the Bill of Rights with impunity and the 1st, 4th and 5th Amendments are just suggestions to them;
The Patriot Act is being used on Americans in America by the American government;
Biden will use deadly force to collect taxes, but not to defend our borders.
To this list I would add:
The destruction of integrity in our election system;
The ACTUAL racism of the Left;
The absence of any work ethic in the vast majority of Gen Zr’s as well as Y’s and Millenials;
Reckless fiscal and monetary policies aimed at redistributing wealth in this country from the have’s to the have not’s in order to buy votes and obtain permanent power;
Enviro-fascism;
Public-sector unions;
The assault on young white boys;
The Lincoln Project, 1619, CRT, LGBTQxxx in all their destructive forms;
and so on and so forth.
We said two years ago and repeat often that the damage the Democrats could and would do since the 2020 election would be immeasurable. Indeed, they’re doing it.
AND THE MEDIA IN ALL ITS FORMS IS ENABLING AND EMPOWERING THEM!
THEY are the ones we should be angry at. They’re just performers seeking fame and fortune while serving as puppets for the villains who already have those two things and are bent on satisfying their addiction to POWER.
What’s particularly sad to an old grandpa like me is that the young don’t get it. They have no basis against which to compare what’s going on today with what could be except our rantings and ravings of how abused and oppressed we increasingly are. They think this is all normal! If Kanye and Kim act as if it’s all ok, then it must be ok!
